    Lake's Edge Empty Lake's Edge

Post by Guest Sat 28 Aug 2010, 23:45

Theresa skipped to the lake and sat down at the edge of the water. She took a book out of her bag along with her notebook and muggle pen. Flipping through the book, she quickly found the chapter she was looking for and put the book down on the grass.

She looked into the lake and squinted her eyes as she tried to see anything. Turning back to her note book, she circled a few of the scribbled words and crossed one out. To get a better look, she desided to kneel closer and look for any movement.

"Hey, what are you up to?" Jenny asked, walking up to the Puff at the lake's edge. She enjoyed coming here to think and write in her journal- not that she typically did that when anyone was around. In fact, that was why she came here, but she wasn't alone and didn't exactly want to bear her soul to anyone. Not even her closest friend deserved the burden she carried.

Theresa looked up from her notebook when she heard someone, she smiled when she saw a Ravenclaw girl. "Hey, I am just wondering what creatures are in this lake" she said to the girl. "You alright?" she asked, wondering if this girl was waitng for someone or wanted to do something.

"I'm fine," Jenny insisted. "So, what creatures do you know of so far... other than the squid"

Jenny opened an eye to see the squid peering over the water at them. Fascinating creature. A little creepy that it was so close, but it was a good experience to see it firsthand.

"I've heard there are mermaids in there. What do you think?"

"We have found out that there is a giant octopus down there, thanks to Indiana from Hufflepuff and there are Plimplies down there too along with fish" Theresa said as she stood up.
"I have never had the luck to see merpeople, there could be though" she said, looking at the lake.

"I believe it is a giant squid, which is right over there, i might add"

Jenny wasn't sure if she would be frightened or not. Jenny was actually interested in magical creatures and plants. She didn't think it would attack them or anything. Creatures tend to stay to themselves unless threatened. What could Jenny do if it were to attack her? Levitate it? Disarm it?

Jenny pictured the squid, sporting multiple wands in its tentacles. She giggled at the ridiculous thought.

Seeing her get up, Jenny stood as well.

"Well, I ought to get going now. I'm done with my exams, but I am a bit hungry. Nice talking to you!" Jenny waved before wandering away from the shore.

Theresa looked further along the lake, smilling when she saw the squid. She had not had a chance to see it up close before, even though she had been in the lake many times. She leaned down and scribbled out 'the squid' cheerfully.
"Wow, he is even bigger then I thought he would be" she said excitedly.

    "PUSH!"
Cass obviously in the light of water safety did no such thing near Theresa, but hoped that the word would scare her enough.

"Haha. Sorry, I couldn't help myself."
Walking jauntily to Theresa, she offered her a hug. "Hug me like you've never hugged before!"

Because Cass was in the greatest of moods, she didn't ask Theresa why she had a bowl of Cauliflower Pureé -empty Cauliflower Pureé- next to her...

Theresa looked around, shocked when she heard some one shout. She saw Cassi walking over to them, clearly amused and narrowed her eyes. "You are so lucky I missed you the last few days" she said, smiling. It seemed like everyone had been disapearing, of course with the finals.
"What's got you so cheerful?" she asked as she hugged her.

"Seeing you of course," she said blankly, "is it not obvious?"
She sat herself down rigidly, taking care not to aggravate the rib.
"So, finals. Done any yet? I'd be lying if I said I was prepared..." admitted Cass. Things weren't going so well.

Theresa smiled as she sat down and clossed her notebook. "I have done the Defence Against the Dark Arts one, I am attempting the Transfiguration one and am having no luck with the Charms theory, I am so going to fail it" she said as she crossed her legs. "But everything is better now I can finaly talk to my frat bro again" she said, grinning at the name.
    "What about you?" she asked.

"I'm biting my nails on the last question for DADA, sadly. I don't know how I'm going to get it to over 500 words," she sighed. "That's the only one I've been doing. Transfig by the sounds of it is hard- although I haven't gone to the exam yet, and Charms. Yep. I was always going to fail at Charms- it was inevitable. And yes. Yes, Theresa, you are still my Frat Bro," she said, wiping away a tear. "man hug!"

Theresa pretended to cry as she hugged Cassi "man hug! She said before giggling. "I have to say, that was the most fun ever, who knew that having a party to make fun of boys would be so great" she said.
"Well I am going to fail charms, even after Professor Malfoy's help so at least we will fail together my home dog" she said, giggling at the strange name.

"It was pretty fun," admitted Cass, "it was a shame Dixie wasn't there- she'd have been all up for it. And obviously, Mitchell shutting it down. I only saw it as a costume or acting party where everyone had the same character!" she said, shrugging.

"Ah well, us frat boys can't be good at everything, can we?"

Theresa giggled "I suppose we were being kind of mean about boys but ever since you mentioned frat boys, I just love the type of things they say, like homie or home dawg" she said, falling back onto the grass, laughing.
"Well I probably don't need a great charms result to be a dragon trainer, it would be good to understand the lesson more though" she said before shrugging.
"At least I will always have my frat bro'" she said, giggling again.

"They are pretty funn- hey! You want to be a Dragon Trainer?! Wow, you've never told me that. Speaking of which..." Cass put a button in it. Nope. There was no way she was telling Theresa she had her present for Christmas ready.

"Yes," drawled Cass, "I guess I am your Frat Bro... YAY!"
She rolled over onto her stomach and asked suddenly, "you want to go hill rolling?"

Theresa nodded "yea, I want to be a Dragon Trainer, I thought I told you" she said, thinking back. She shrugged, "I don't mention it a lot anyway, with it apparently being dangerous and all".
She noticed her sudden stop but thought it would be best not to mention it now. She giggled when she heard the question. "Sure" she said as she rolled onto her stomach.

Cass shook her head, at which point, a sneeze riddled through her nose. At which point, Cass considered how many miles an hour that went. "Did you know some sneezes are faster than brooms?" she asked, trying to not get embarassed over sneezing. It was a natural response, after all.

But Cass did pull an awful face when she sneezed.
"EE! Yay!" Cass clapped. Why was she clapping, she didn't know. "Let's go!" Cass headed to the nearest (and incidentally, the largest) relief there was on the grounds, and waved hurriedly to Theresa.

Theresa giggled and nodded at the strange fact Cassi had told her and wondered if it was actually true. She jumped up from the ground and grinned as she skipped to where Cassi seemed to be going. "Yay, sounds fun" she said cheerfully. She looked around as Cassi stopped and waited for her friend to get ready.

"You better remember to tuck yo' head in, frat girl, otherwise you'll probably wind up dead. You need your head you know," she nodded, wondering if Theresa would be marvelled at this, "unlike Cockroaches and Chickens- did you know Cockroaches can live without their heads for two weeks? That's why in this paper my Mum did for the Wrackspurt Chron' she said that if there was a God and he made a form on Earth being his true image, he'd be a cockroach. Weird, right? Probably true though," she reasoned, grinning contentedly. "You ready to rock and roll? See what I did there? Nevermind. ROLL!"

Theresa nodded, deciding that it would be best to do what Cassi said, she had not done this in so long that she barely remembered how to do it. She was shocked about the fact of cockroaches, it seemed that muggle creatures, even little things were as surprising and interesting as magical ones.
She giggled at her friend's choice of words before she let herself roll.

    "Wheee!"
The whole process of the rolling (the feeling- for a start, the gravity pulling her and making her feel smaller, the curling up of her toes, the way she imagined her neck straight and streamlined, the annoyance as her wisps of hair flew into her mouth, the light and dark change before her eyes as she spun under the sun and met the earthworms) was pretty cool, but before she had time to even comprehend this, Cass was brought to the stop, at the hands of a very small tree.
    It was, infact, a stump.

Theresa grinned as she watched Cassi roll. She smiled to herself as she sat down and got in persition to roll. Giggling, she began to roll.
Once she had stopped, she looked around dizzily. Grinning, she waited until the ground stopped spinning and saw Cassi.
"Are you ok?" she asked, worriedly when she noticed the tree stump.
